Question: I located a judgment that is 12 years old that was not renewed and was not purchased from the original creditor as it had been written off. It actually had been part of an identity theft from someone I knew closely and is deceased. Am I responsible for this at the closing of my property?

Answer: If the judgment expired before the property was transferred, it is likely not an issue, but we would recommend that you ask the title company handling your property sale to verify that information.
