What is the difference between property deed and a property title?

Client question:

Hello, I’m trying to get the title to my house and trying to figure out if I can do that here. And also can you explain the difference between a deed and a title? thank you.

Answer:

Hi Sara,

There are many articles explaining the difference between a deed and title but here is one example:  https://www.rocketlawyer.com/article/whats-the-difference-between-a-property-deed-and-a-title-ps.rl

If you need a copy of your property deed, you can visit the County Recorder’s office in the county in which the property is located.  If you cannot or would rather not, we can do it for you.  Here is the link for that service:  https://www.ustitlerecords.com/product/doc-image-copy-of-deed/.

Thank you for your inquiry and let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you,
